Bolivia thanks Mexico for donation of vaccines against COVID-19

La Paz, June 15 (RHC)-- The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, thanked his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, for the donation of vaccines to several countries in the region to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We want to thank the donation of the brotherly people of Mexico and President Andres Lopez Obrador for the 150,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.  They arrived this Sunday to Bolivia and will be applied as a second dose", said President Arce.

The Bolivian head of state praised the way in which Mexico is making the donation through the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), where Mexico serves as president pro-tempore-  

The Bolivian president said: "We call on other countries to follow this example of solidarity to face the pandemic.   President Arce's statement comes after the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, announced the donation of Astra Zeneca vaccine doses to Bolivia, Belize and Paraguay, through the CELAC mechanism.

According to information disclosed by Foreign Minister Ebrard, Belize will receive 100,000 doses of the drug, while Bolivia and Paraguay will get 150,000 doses each.

President López Obrador stated that the purpose of the shipment is to strengthen solidarity with the peoples of the region, within the framework of the fight against the pandemic.
