Caracas, August 30 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry rejected on Sunday the accusation of the Colombian government against Venezuelan military, which allegedly violated the 1941 Treaty on Demarcation of Borders and Navigation of Common Rivers between the two countries.

"Venezuela rejects the inconsistent statement of the Colombian Foreign Ministry that seeks to increase tensions between countries, generating false conflicts in interactions that can be resolved with the coordination of local authorities," the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said.

Alluding to the complex social situations that arise on the border, the Venezuelan Ministry urged the Colombian Executive to establish communication channels to face the problems in accordance with International Law.

"It is considered that due to the complexities of the common border, this type of issues require diplomatic coordination.  However, the unwillingness of the Colombian Government to establish channels of communication makes it difficult to work more efficiently in favor of legality on the border," states the diplomatic authority in Caracas.

The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Government presided by Nicolás Maduro has been characterized by respecting all international treaties.  "Venezuela reiterates its faithful commitment to the Treaties and International Navigation Agreements and its sincere willingness to cooperate and coordinate joint actions, with the objective of guaranteeing a safe and stable common border for both countries."
