Montevideo, September 26 (RHC)-- The March for Diversity 2021 took place on Libertador Avenue in Uruguay where thousands of people walked approximately two kilometers claiming for the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community.

The march started from the interception between Libertador and Paysandú streets, under rain, accompanied by electronic music and slogans such as "I have the right to be free" and ended at Plaza Primero de Mayo.

One of the coordinators, Lea Mazal, indicated that she was asking the Government of Luis LaCalle Pou "to comply with the laws already established, such as the law for trans people and the law of quotas for public jobs," regulations that according to Mazal are not being complied with.

At the end of the planned march in one of the busiest squares of the Uruguayan capital, the organizers read the manifesto of this mobilization.  The slogan of the march was "Absent State, our struggle present" and the struggle of the LGBTIQ+ community has been felt in Montevideo as it has become customary every year, on the last Friday of September.

One of the causes of the march, according to the official Twitter account of the march is to raise the voice against repression and institutional violence, access to work and against serophobia and real and non-violent access to health.
