Caracas, October 10 (RHC)-- Venezuela received a batch of 2,594,000 more vaccines on Sunday, purchased by the government through the United Nations (UN) COVAX System, to continue the fight against COVID-19.

"A new shipment of vaccines is arriving for the fulfillment of the goal that President Nicolás Maduro has demanded us of 70% of the population (...)", informed this Sunday the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado.

Alvarado, in the company of officials from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and UNICEF at the International Airport of Maiquetía "Simón Bolívar," said that we already have in the country more than 29 million doses of vaccines, which will cover the goal for October 31st.

Previously, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros announced the arrival of the doses purchased by the Venezuelan State from the World Health Organization (WHO) and PAHO, institutions attached to the United Nations.

President Nicolas Maduro reported last week the arrival of 900,000 Abdala vaccines to Venezuela, as part of a plan to send 15 million vaccines from the Caribbean island to the South American country.
