Ramallah, October 11 (RHC)-- Palestinian prisoners incarcerated in different Israeli jails have taken a number of steps to protest the crackdown imposed by the Israeli prison authorities against them.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Association said the prisoners have started returning their meals and would announce an open-ended hunger among other measures.  The prisoners’ move is part of a collective struggle to protest the prison authorities’ repressive and punitive measures.

Israeli prison authorities have imposed collective punishment measure on Palestinian detainees following last month’s jailbreak from Gilboa jail, a high-security Israeli prison. Israeli soldiers have rearrested the six prisoners, however punishing thousands of Palestinian prisoners has not yet come to an end.

Meanwhile, a number of Palestinian prisoners are going on an open ended hunger strike to protest the illegal Israeli policy of administrative detention, Kayed al-Fasfous has been protesting for almost ninety days, and other for over two and half months. They are demanding the occupying regime to either release them or prosecute them.

Thousands of Palestinian detainees are united today in confronting the Israeli repressive measures and arbitrary collective punishment by engaging in hunger strikes and different forms of confrontations to defend their basic right behind bars.
