La Paz, October 29 (RHC)-- The 2019 coup d'état in Bolivia broke the constitutional order and attacked the Native Nations, said President Luis Arce at the inauguration of the 15th General Assembly of the Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (Filac).

According to the Bolivian Information Agency, the president urged the Indigenous peoples of the member countries of this organization and participants in general to demand the recognition of these communities and "to put an end to the stagnation of internal colonialism."

Arce exhorted the native peoples, in addition, "to take off the armor of monoculturalism, to which we were subjected for many centuries."  The Bolivian leader recalled that the breakdown of democracy in 2019 "consummated the realization of persecutions, discrimination, humiliations, humiliations and tortures, and generated the death of 38 people, most of them indigenous Quechua and Aymara."

President Luis Arce recalled that times have changed and the construction of a plurinational sense in the States of Latin America and the Caribbean "must be the horizon of the present.

"Our children, of today and future generations, depend on the decisions and commitments we make together, without anyone being left behind," he said.   "This also means demanding from the international community full respect for the self-determination of peoples, without blockades or interference of any kind."
