La Paz, October 31 (RHC)-- The president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, arrived Saturday in Bolivia, where he met with his colleague Luis Arce, in the framework of strengthening relations between the two nations in trade, security and environment, among other areas.

A delegation headed by the Bolivian Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta, welcomed the Peruvian president at the El Alto International Airport on Saturday morning.  After the official welcoming ceremony, Castillo was driven to the city of La Paz, Bolivia's political center, for the start of the high-level meetings.

President Arce wrote in his official Twitter account: "This is a very special day because we received with great joy President Castillo and his Cabinet.  We strengthen ties between two brotherly countries in the Presidential Meeting and the VI Bolivia-Peru Binational Cabinet. Welcome Peruvian sisters and brothers!"

Arce received his Peruvian colleague in the Murillo square of the capital city of La Paz, where they participated in the ceremony of laying wreaths in front of the crypt that holds the remains of Marshal Andrés de Santa Cruz.

After the official reception, both heads of state held a private meeting at the Government Headquarters in the Casa Grande del Pueblo.  Later in the day, the plenary meeting of the Binational Ministerial Cabinet began, during which the ministers gave an account of the progress in the implementation of the agreements adopted at the previous meeting, held in Moquegua and Ilo in 2019.

At the end of this session, the Joint Declaration and the La Paz Action Plan was signed, and new commitments were announced.
