Caracas, November 28 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry has rejected the position of the Government of Spain that questioned without grounds the results of the regional elections, despite the fact that the day took place with the presence of hundreds of international observers -- including from the European Union.

"The Kingdom of Spain made a series of disqualifications and value judgments that go against the majority criteria of the hundreds of international electoral observers and observers, who have testified to the development of an exemplary election day," the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said. 

The diplomatic authorities of the South American country recalled that the internationalists were able to confirm the efficiency and transparency of the electoral system.  "The observers have qualified the Venezuelan electoral system as one of the most modern and reliable in the world," they added.

Alluding to the respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, Venezuela asks the Spanish Executive to rectify its pronouncement.  "The Kingdom of Spain is urged to rectify that exhausted position condemned to the most resounding failure."

"The Venezuelan people, in spite of a bloody and illegal blockade, in the midst of a terrible pandemic, have carried out an electoral process with full guarantees, within the highest technological standards and the participation of all political sectors", the Foreign Ministry affirmed.

Caracas' pronouncement comes after the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs questioned the results of the regional elections in Venezuela, although without specifying specific aspects of their dynamics. 

It should be noted that more than 200 international observers accompanied the November 21 elections, where the Gran Polo Patriotico (GPP) coalition won 18 of the 23 governorships in dispute.
