Managua, December 23 (RHC)-- The Nicaraguan Ministry of Health expects for December 24 the arrival of 800,000 vaccines against the virus causing COVID-19 from the People's Republic of China, in addition to the arrival of 500,000 doses from AstraZeneca sent by the Government of Japan through the Covax mechanism of the World Health Organization.

This was confirmed by Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo, who explained that "it is a donation made by the Government of Japan to our people, to our families to promote health and life.  And we thank Japan for the donation, through the Covax mechanism and thanking the People's Republic of China for its donation."

Rosario Murillo took the opportunity to reiterate the call to parents to vaccinate their children against the virus that causes Covid-19 in view of the proximity of the Omicron variant, of which there are still no confirmed cases in Nicaragua, although she said it is a matter of time.

The Nicaraguan Ministry of Health reported earlier this week that for 15 consecutive weeks the decrease in positive cases of the virus causing Covid-19, with 51 confirmed cases and the recovery of 13,264 Nicaraguans since the pandemic began on March 18, 2020.
