Santiago de Chile, July 26 (RHC)-- According to a study conducted by the pollster Cadem, the number of Chileans who support the new Constitution project increased two percentage points compared to the previous week.

The quantitative study revealed that in comparison with the month of June, the acceptance of the new Magna Carta idea increased six percentage points.

Likewise, the figures obtained by Cadem highlight that now 47 percent of the population rejects the project, five percentage points less than the previous week, while 14 percent remain undecided.

The data show that a large majority (70 percent) believe that if the project is rejected in the plebiscite scheduled for September, a new constituent process should be initiated.

"Regarding the best mechanism to have a new Constitution, 36 percent prefer a 100% elected Constituent Convention, 29 percent a mixed convention, 23 percent an elected committee of experts, seven percent a committee of experts appointed by Congress and three percent the current National Congress", highlighted the pollster.

Seven out of ten Chileans said they were interested in this plebiscite where participation will be mandatory (unlike other instances), where the ballot will contain only two options: I approve and I reject. In the case of a majority of the latter, a new constituent process will have to be initiated.
