Bogota, July 28 (PL-RHC) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrives in Bogota on Monday for a two-day official visit to Colombia, diplomatic sources say.

Abe's visit is part of a tour of five Latin American countries which will also take him to Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile and Brazil, the Foreign Ministry in Bogota said Sunday.

It is the first time that a Japanese prime minister is visiting Colombia in the 106 years since diplomatic relations between the two countries were established, the ministry added.

In Bogota, Abe will meet President Juan Manuel Santos, top government officials, including Foreign Minister, Maria Angela Holguín, and attend a meeting between delegations of Japanese and Colombian entrepreneurs.

The meeting is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, boosting trade and increasing Japanese investments in Colombia.
