Sao Paulo, August 22 (RHC)-- Brazil’s presidential front-runner has pledged to tackle hunger and ensure food security as the country has returned to the United Nations hunger map as a result of the neoliberal policies of his opponent, incumbent Jair Bolsonaro.  Former President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva says there’s no explanation for the dire circumstances within the country.

Lula da Silva was joined at his first major rally in Brazil’s largest city by several towering political figures of the Brazilian left, including former President Dilma Rousseff.

Lula is counting on the support of some of the largest unions and social movements on the continent, whose leaders have vowed to return the Workers’ Party to the government.

All polls show former President Lula with a significant margin over Jair Bolsonaro and Lula is continuing to gain ground, and enjoys a higher level of support than the sum of all other candidates combined.

Lula is embarking on a nationwide tour to meet with a range of sectors from which he seeks to lock down support.
