The Mexican Foreign Minister regretted the events that took place in Peru 

Mexico City, December 8 (RHC)-- Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard has announced the suspension of the Pacific Alliance Summit scheduled for next December 14th due to the situation in Peru.

"Given the latest events in Peru, it has been agreed to postpone the Pacific Alliance Summit that would have taken place next December 14th in the city of Lima," the top Mexican diplomat wrote on his Twitter account.  In the same vein, the Minister of Foreign Affairs regretted the events that took place in Peru on this day. 

This is the second time that the conclave has been suspended, after it could not be held last November 24 due to the Peruvian Congress' refusal to grant travel permission to then President Pedro Castillo.  The body, which includes Chile, Peru, Mexico and Colombia, decided at that time to hold the meeting in Lima, capital of Peru, as the Andean nation is due to receive the pro tempore presidency from Mexico. 

On that day, the Peruvian Congress dismissed Pedro Castillo as president of the country, after the now former president announced the temporary dissolution of the legislative body and the establishment of a government of exception, decreed a national curfew and the reorganization of the Justice System.

Subsequently, the Peruvian Congress swore in Vice President Dina Boluarte as the country's new president, being the first woman to hold this position.
