Bolivia's Minister of Government Eduardo del Castillo confirmed in a tweet that special police forces intercepted the vehicle of Santa Cruz governor Luis Fernando Camacho, with the aim of apprehending him.
La Paz, December 28 (RHC)-- Bolivia's Minister of Government Eduardo del Castillo confirmed in a tweet that special police forces intercepted the vehicle of Santa Cruz governor Luis Fernando Camacho, with the aim of apprehending him.
"We inform the Bolivian people, that the Bolivian Police complied with the arrest warrant against Mr. Luis Fernando Camacho," said the head of the Bolivian Police on his Twitter account.
Last Thursday, December 22nd, National Deputy Estefania Morales assured that she would establish a criminal charge against Camacho, who until today refused to render a report to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP).
"We are going to file a criminal complaint for breach of duties because the regulations are clear, our rules are clear and he should be here giving the report to the Legislative Assembly, to the corresponding commission," she said.
According to Morales, Camacho violated the Framework Law of Autonomies by refusing to give a report to the ALP on the 36-day violent strike that caused losses of more than 1.2 billion dollars and various human rights violations.
The legislator of the Movimiento al Socialismo-Instrumento Político por la Soberanía de los Pueblos (MAS-IPSP) made three requests for a report to the highest authority of Santa Cruz.
The first one is dated March 22nd and refers to the departmental decree 373 that was supposedly approved by the Secretary of Institutional Management of the Governor's Office instead of the Vice Governor, Mario Aguilera, as established in the regulations.
Likewise, the congresswoman demanded Camacho give information on the physical financial execution assigned to the Government during the 2022 administration.
More recently, on December 7, Morales and other members of the MAS-IPSP bench sent the request for a report to the Commission of Territorial Organization of the State and Autonomies for Camacho to detail the services provided by the Government of Santa Cruz and its dependencies during the 36 days of the strike.
Camacho justified his absence before the commission only once, the rest were unjustified and he even publicly declared that the authority that wants to investigate him has to do it in Santa Cruz.
In this way, he was in contempt of Paragraph Two of Article 141 of the General Regulations of the Chamber of Deputies, regarding the absence of the required authority. This text states: "the committee shall inform the plenary of the Chamber who shall derive the pertinent representations to the competent bodies or required authority and shall provide the corresponding sanction."
Additionally, Article 135 of the Law of Autonomies determines that "all authorities of the Autonomous Governments are obliged to appear personally to provide the information requested by the Legislative Assembly."
