Buenos Aires, March 21 (RHC)-- The III World Forum on Human Rights was inaugurated on Monday in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, in the National Auditorium of the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK).

The opening ceremony was attended by President Alberto Fernandez, who said that celebrating the III World Forum on Human Rights in Argentina has a very special meaning, because the Argentine people have made human rights a true state policy.  "We have a society that in the 21st century dreams of a judiciary that stops acting as the executing arm of the powers that be in Argentina," said the President.

In this sense, he expressed that Argentina is an example in the world of human rights conquest, due to the maturity and conscience of the people in the unwavering defense of democracy.

Likewise, the Head of State referred to the mothers and grandmothers of the Plazas de Mayo as "the midwives of our democracy, to them all our gratitude", and stressed that they are more than forty years of struggles, of knowledge, of vital memories, which illuminate the present and give an image of the future.

"Today Human Rights tell us that there is no possibility of coexistence between neoliberal political projects, reactionary projects, adjustment projects and a true policy that guarantees the Human Rights of everyone, everyone and everyone", he emphasized.

The opening of the forum was attended by the Grandmother of Plaza de Mayo and Línea-Fundadora, Taty Almeida, as well as the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Honorary President of the event, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel.

Also present were personalities such as former presidents Evo Morales (Bolivia), José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (Spain), Ernesto Samper (Colombia) and Rafael Correa (Ecuador) and government authorities and grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo.

The III World Forum on Human Rights has representatives from more than 70 countries, will develop 1,100 activities with the participation of 950 organizations, more than 150 speakers who will meet in 24 thematic commissions and 200 artistic, cultural and audiovisual activities will take place.
