Extremist Forum of Madrid inaugurated Second Regional Meeting in Lima

Havana, March 29 (RHC) The extremist Forum of Madrid inaugurated this Wednesday its Second Regional Meeting in the Peruvian capital, behind closed doors and amid expressions of repudiation from those who consider the meeting a fascist foreign interference.

The act opened with a video message from the president of VOX, Santiago Abascal, who marked the line of the conclave by celebrating the removal and imprisonment of President Pedro Castillo, and insults against governments and progressive forces in Latin America.

Another constant was the intention for Peru to remain as a point of contention for the advance of the aforementioned democratic groups, as the last stronghold of the right wing in Latin America.

The head of the far-right VOX of Madrid, Rocío Monasterios, placed special emphasis on launching attacks on Cuba and its system, and also gave some guidelines to confront the left.

The mayor of Lima, Rafael López-Aliaga, praised his foreign guests and thanked them for their support, while insisting that former president Castillo was elected by fraud, which was ruled out by electoral authorities and foreign observers.

Then a panel of extreme right-wing local congressmen boasted that they had "knocked down" Castillo and, in other words, that there will not be a similar government in Peru.

The meeting gave rise to expressions of repudiation, including that of Silvana Robles, a left-wing congresswoman, who contrasted the opening to VOX with the local right-wing attacks on presidents in solidarity with the Peruvian people.

The newspaper Uno recalled in its editorial of the day the horrors of Francoism in Spain, of which VOX proclaims itself the heir, and added that its representatives will surely repeat in Lima the cry "Long live death, die intelligence!"

On the other hand, the Peru Chapter of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH) published a statement from RED-H rejecting the extremist meeting.

The Chapter points out that the far-right meeting brings together "aspiring dictators, neo-fascists and ultra-rightists, who manipulate the concepts of freedom, democracy and the rule of law (…) At the same time, the meeting aims to “stifle sovereign regional integration projects; demolish progressivism; and annihilate democratic political instances such as the Sao Paulo Forum or the Puebla Group".
