Russia calls reaction to nuclear weapons in Belarus hysteria

Havana, April 9 (RHC) - The West forgets the existence of US nuclear weapons in Europe but reacts hysterically to Russia's plans to place them in Belarus, Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov said on Thursday.

The Russian presidential spokesman added that Moscow sees a mild reaction from the collective West to the announcements made by the president.

Earlier, Putin said that Russia would deploy its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus at Minsk's request, just as the United States has long done on the territory of its allies.

In addition, the Russian head of state stressed that it was not an arms transfer. Putin indicated that the construction of a tactical nuclear weapons warehouse on Belarusian territory would end on July 1.
