Argentinian workers strike against International Monetary Fund policies

Havana, April 12 (RHC) - The Workers Central of Autonomous Argentina (CTAA) is holding a nationwide strike this Wednesday to demand a wage increase, as well as to denounce the policies of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Under the slogan "enough with IMF policies", the workers will demand a universal salary "to end hunger and poverty" in the face of the growing inflation that affects the country's economy.

The general secretary of the CTAA, Hugo Godoy, specified that an “emergency increase will be demanded for all formal and informal workers, active and retired; a change in economic policy because today's economic plan is from the IMF, which is also inflationary and adjusting for the people”.

In turn, Godoy pointed out that the IMF's policies are responsible for "the deep regression in income of the popular sectors, the tremendous inflation that erodes the income of workers and the difficulties of small and medium-sized companies."

The leader informed that, although the strike will take place throughout the country, it will have as its epicenter the vicinity of the Ministry of Labor while he warned that the force measure will be deepened if there is no response.

Similarly, organizations such as the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE), the Classist and Combative Current (CCC), as well as sectors of the Darío Santillán Popular Front (FPDS) are part of the call. (Source: Telesur)
