Caracas, April 25 (RHC)-- The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, affirmed that the former opposition deputy, Juan Guaidó, fled the country in view of the withdrawal of his party's support for his candidacy for the upcoming elections.

During a press conference, Cabello explained that "what happened is that his own party (Voluntad Popular) removed his candidacy. That has not come out, it is going to come out, and faced with that situation without any kind of support, not even from his party, he had to look for a way to flee this country." 

"That is the truth. The party decided that he was not going to continue being a candidate and in view of that he left the country, he abandoned his own people", he highlighted.

The first vice president of the PSUV also made reference to the communiqué of the Colombian Foreign Ministry, in which it is clarified that Guaidó was not invited to the International Conference on the Venezuelan political process, to be held this April 25 in Bogota (capital), and that only countries that were invited will participate.  

"For Colombia to say that it is not invited, is that nowhere has it been invited (...) It is the fate of those who play with the hopes of the people. Not long ago we heard him say 'Maduro pon la fecha' and from 'Maduro pon la fecha' to the race, to flee like cowards", he added.

Cabello reiterated that it was his own colleagues who withdrew Guaidó's candidacy.
