Nicolas Maduro arrives in Saudi Arabia

Jeddah, June 4 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrived today in this Saudi Arabian city with the purpose of strengthening political, diplomatic and energy alliances.

After midnight on Sunday, the South American head of state arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport, accompanied by the first combatant and deputy to the National Assembly Cilia Flores, Foreign Minister Yván Gil and Minister of Communication and Information Freddy Ñáñez, among other officials.

The president arrived in this, the second most important city of the Arab country, coming from Türkiye where he attended the inauguration of his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after his victory with more than 52 percent of the votes in the second round of the elections last Sunday.

Maduro previously traveled to Saudi Arabia in 2015 and 2016, and in the latter year promoted the boost to the recovery and stabilization of crude oil prices, official sources indicated. Bilateral relations between Caracas and Riyadh are based on their concurrence in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, both countries being founders of its birth certificate on September 14, 1960.

With the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution and Commander Hugo Chavez (1954-2013), the bonds of friendship between both nations were consolidated in a new stage of cooperation, beyond oil.
