Damascus, Aug 8 (RHC) The Syrian Foreign Ministry said Monday that Israel is a tool to sow chaos and is the main cause of insecurity and instability in the region and the world.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry demanded the United Nations (UN) and the Security Council to condemn the Israeli aggression perpetrated on Monday against points in the vicinity of Damascus and to take immediate measures to hold Tel Aviv accountable for its terrorism and crimes.

The aggressive and terrorist acts of the Israeli occupation authorities coincide with an increase in the operations of the US forces illegally present in Syrian territory and also of the terrorist groups, mercenaries of these forces," the statement denounced.

It added that the Israeli regime is an obstacle to the improvement of the human and economic conditions of the peoples of the region, due to its frantic efforts to weaken their countries and peoples by sowing terrorism.

This aggression constitutes a serious violation of international and humanitarian law, and we urge Tel Aviv's protectors to allow the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in the maintenance of international peace and security, and take the necessary measures to put an end to these crimes, the Ministry concluded its note.

An Israeli bombardment with missiles against positions near this capital today caused the death of four soldiers and injuries to the same number, in addition to material damage.

This is the seventeenth attack carried out by Israel this year, the previous one occurred on July 26 against several positions of the Internal Security Forces, in the town of Al-Qahtaniya, in the province of Quneitra, about 70 kilometers southwest of Damascus. Israel frequently attacks Syrian territory under the pretext of attacking Iranian targets, while Damascus assures that these clashes cause victims among the civilian population, aim at prolonging the war, keeping the country unstable and weakening its national army.
