Argentine President urges citizens to vote

Buenos Aires, August 13 (RHC) Argentine President Alberto Fernández urged citizens today to participate in the Primary, Open, Simultaneous, and Mandatory Elections (PASO) and emphasized that it is a way to exercise their rights and express their will for the future.

The president arrived at the University of Argentina's Catholic University in this capital around 10:00 local time and cast his vote as part of the national PASO and those corresponding to the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

"Every time Argentina votes, it becomes a better country, chooses its destiny, protects its rights, and thinks about its future and that of its children," said the head of state in statements to the press.

He also highlighted the importance of holding the election on the 40th anniversary of the recovery of democracy after the end of the last civic-military dictatorship in the country (1976-1983).

"Today is an important day. We are starting an electoral process that will likely end in November," he said, referring to the possibility of a second round after the general elections on October 22.

"I ask you to make it a day of joy and let's all go out to vote. I wish the best for the candidates," he affirmed and stated that he will be attentive to the process from the presidential residence in Olivos. (Source: Prensa Latina)
