La Paz, August 20 (RHC)-- The Deputy Minister of Communications of Brazil, Gabriela Alcón, has confirmed the participation of President Luis Arce Catacora in the BRICS Group Summit, which will take place between August 24th and the 26th in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a statement issued in La Paz, the Bolivian Foreign Ministry said that Lusi Arce will be present at the dialogue with the heads of state of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta also conveyed the Bolivian president's gratitude to the South African president, Ciril Ramaphosa, for the invitation to the summit, also in his capacity as rotating president of the bloc.

According to Mayta, Arce will have the opportunity to present the achievements and experience of the economic, social, community and productive model of that country, which allows it to advance towards industrialization and the fulfillment of new development goals.

Last June 12, the Bolivian Presidency officially communicated the South American nation's interest in joining the Brics.  In a letter sent to the presidents of the five countries that are part of this platform, Arce conveyed that "Bolivia shares a common vision of an international order based on equality, solidarity, inclusion, consensus, mutually beneficial cooperation and multilateralism, without hegemonies."

In ratifying Arce's participation in the South African meeting, Alcón valued that the BRICS nations take into account the Bolivian view of a multipolar world and the economic and population weight of this bloc.

The BRICS countries represent 42 percent of the world population and generate 31.5 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  The central theme of the Summit to be held in Johannesburg, the 15th of the bloc, will be "Partnership for accelerated mutual growth; sustainable development and inclusive multilateralism."
