Lima, September 26 (RHC)-- Ninety percent of Peruvians disapprove the management of the current Congress while 86 percent consider that the entity does not respect the principle of separation of powers, according to a report released by the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP).

According to the most recent IEP study, only 6 percent of Peruvians approve of the performance of the Legislative Branch, which removed former President Pedro Castillo from office last December.  On the other hand, more than four fifths of the country expressed that the Congress acts against the separation of the executive, legislative and judicial powers, while 8 percent said that they are respected by the Parliament.

In this sense, 64 percent of Peruvians disagree with the intervention of the legislative branch in the justice system, especially in the National Justice Board (Junta Nacional de Justicia - JNJ).  At the same time, 82 percent of the nationals of the South American country expressed their disapproval of the administration of President Dina Boluarte, while 10 percent accept the work of the head of state.

"What sustains democracy is this separation and vigilance between powers of the State, if this is lost, the precarious balance we have also decays", pointed out the head of Opinion Studies of the IEP, Patricia Zárate.

However, she added that due to the increase in poverty when 6 out of 10 people have gone without food due to lack of resources in the last three months, "political and institutional concerns, which are certainly vital, may not be seen as such a priority and hardly motivate a mobilization".
