Puebla, October 1 (RHC)-- Guatemala's president-elect, Bernardo Arévalo, reiterated on Saturday the warning that an alleged coup d'état against him is still underway, led by the current attorney general and other officials of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

From the Mexican city of Puebla, the president-elect criticized the Public Prosecutor's Office after the seizure of the voting records, during a raid to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.  For Bernardo Arévalo, the actions of the Public Prosecutor's Office seek to annul the results of the last elections held in the country last August and the destruction of the democratic system in Guatemala.

Under the leadership of Consuelo Porras, Rafael Curruchiche and Fredy Orellana, a blow to the elections and the will of the people is being consummated.

The president-elect also asked the current president, Alejandro Giammattei, for a pronouncement in relation to the actions of the Public Ministry against his political grouping Movimiento Semilla.  "I demand that he makes a statement on the outrage that is being committed against our democratic institutions," emphasized Berbado Arévalo, who was elected as president of Guatemala for the period 2024-2028.

Bernardo Arévalo denounced for the first time the alleged gestation of a coup d'état against him on September 1, in a conference where he pointed to Attorney General Consuelo Porras and other officials of the Public Ministry of trying to prevent his investiture as president next January.

After learning about the raid to the electoral body, members of Movimiento Semilla congregated in front of the TSE to reject the actions of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Last Friday a new raid was carried out at the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, which lasted until Saturday, without the Public Prosecutor's Office offering any information about the process due to the fact that it is under "judicial reserve", a measure that limits access to information.

With Friday's raid, there are now four raids carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office to the TSE headquarters in the last two months, in addition to another one to the party Movimiento Semilla, of Bernardo Arévalo.
