Beirut, October 29 (RHC)-- Fighters from the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah have launched salvos of artillery rounds and rockets at Israeli military sites close to the border between the Arab country and the 1948 Israeli-occupied territories.

Lebanon's Arabic-language al-Manar television channel, citing a Hezbollah statement released on Saturday, reported that the group carried out an artillery attack on Burket Risha and Jardah at around 2:30 p.m. local time (1130 GMT) on Saturday.

The statement said the strike resulted in damage to the targeted sites, and inflicted casualties among Israeli troops.  In another statement, the resistance movement said its precision-guided missiles also struck the Israeli military base in al-Marj region.

Lebanese sources also announced that Hezbollah had targeted the al-Abad military site, outside the southern town of Houla on the country's border with the occupied territories.  The party said it damaged equipment with the targeted rocket strike on Abad.

The Israeli military, in response to the missile and rocket attacks, struck a number of Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon.

On Friday, Hezbollah launched anti-tank guided missiles and opened fire with light arms at an Israeli military position near Avivim, and against the Misgav Am area.

Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stated earlier in the week that the Lebanese movement is at the core of the regional resistance campaign to defend the Gaza Strip against the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Sheikh Qassem said in a post published on social media that Hezbollah has its “finger on the trigger” to whatever extent it deems necessary to defend Gaza and to face off the occupiers of Palestine.  He said the United States and Europe should be held accountable for the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime of Israel against children and women in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Hamas resistance fighters launched volleys of rockets from the Gaza Strip at occupied lands.  Rocket alarm sirens sounded in the vicinity of the southern Israeli town of Dimona, including in several Bedouin towns on Dimona’s outskirts, including Ar’ara BaNegev, Abu Talul, Mamshit, Abu Qrenat and Qasr al-Sir.

Explosions were heard over the area, according to the Times of Israel. No injuries or damage was reported in the aftermath of the rocket barrage.
