Davos, January 15 (RHC)-- Hundreds of activists held a protest rally on Sunday ahead of the forthcoming meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss city of Davos.  Footage shows protesters carrying banners and flags as they climb the slopes of the mountain resort shouting anti-capitalist slogans.

"We are here to tell these richest and most powerful that it is time to give up; their time is over. They have failed to solve the crises and wars and ... in fact, they are responsible for these crises continuing to exist," a protester said.

"The time for dialogue between the rich and the powerful is over.  This is the time for the 99% to take back control of this world," he added.

The protest took place on the eve of the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 15-19, themed "Rebuilding Trust."

Leaders from governments, businesses, and the civil society are expected to come together to address current world affairs.   The meeting is also aimed at providing a platform to seek solutions to the most pressing global challenges through public-private cooperation.
