Mexico City, January 15 (RHC)-- More than 700 undocumented migrants, including 75 minors, were rescued when they were crammed into a warehouse in the state of Tlaxcala, in central Mexico, local authorities reported.

"An operation by Tlaxcala security forces resulted in the successful rescue of 726 Central American migrants, in the municipality of San Antonio Cuaxomulco, this Sunday," reported the state's Secretariat of Citizen Security.

Among the migrants, originally from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua, 75 unaccompanied minors were identified, as well as a pregnant woman.  Some were suffering from dehydration and nervous breakdowns, although none required hospital attention.

The Secretary of Citizen Security of Tlaxcala, Alberto Martín Perea Marrufo, informed that the authorities arrested six individuals on suspicion of alleged human trafficking.  They have been placed at the disposal of the competent ministerial authority "in order to determine responsibilities."

The governor of Tlaxcala, Lorena Cuellar, ordered the relevant agencies to provide humanitarian support to the rescued migrants with medical attention, emotional support and food.

The State Police reported that they received a call early Sunday warning that there were two trucks in an abandoned warehouse. Later, a new alert indicated that there were people in different vehicles entering the infrastructure.
