Havana, March 23 (RHC) -- The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) categorically rejected Friday in Caracas the statements made by the head of the U.S. Southern Command, Laura Richardson.

A communiqué of the Latin American and Caribbean integration mechanism pointed out that the U.S. general "irresponsibly and cynically" launched "unfounded accusations" against some member countries of the Alliance.

"These statements demonstrate, once again, the intolerance of U.S. imperialism towards the existence of free and sovereign countries that seek the welfare of their peoples, choose their own political system and do not submit to the neocolonial interests of Washington," it said.

The text stated that Latin America and the Caribbean "have been victims of a long list of interventions and plundering" by different U.S. administrations.

It underlined that the incessant pretensions of the United States to "reimpose the Monroe Doctrine" violate the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, by maintaining a policy of hostility and interference in the internal affairs of our nations.

"To which is also added -he added- the imposition of unilateral coercive measures that are contrary to International Law and the threats of the use of force to "appropriate what has never belonged and will never belong to them."

The countries of the Alliance reiterated their firmest rejection to the "unacceptable qualifications and interference threats" of the United States and its expansionist pretensions over our peaceful, free, sovereign and independent region.    (Source: Prensa Latina)
