Bogota, March 28 (RHC)-- The Colombian Foreign Ministry ordered on Wednesday, on behalf of the Government of the South American country, the expulsion of Argentinian diplomats working at the Embassy of that country in Colombia.

The decision was taken after statements against President Gustavo Petro, made to a foreign media by the president of Argentina, Javier Milei.  Through a statement, the Foreign Ministry affirmed that "it is not the first time that Mr. Milei offends the Colombian President, affecting the historical relations of brotherhood between Colombia and Argentina."

"The expressions of the Argentine president have deteriorated the confidence of our nation, in addition to offending the dignity of President Petro, who was democratically elected," the text stressed.

During an interview granted to the U.S. network CNN, Milei branded Petro as a "terrorist murderer."

The Colombian Foreign Ministry repudiated the statements made by the Argentinian head of state, expressing himself in a "denigrating" way against his Colombian counterpart.
