Tel Aviv, June 11 (RHC)-- At least 48 Palestinians abducted by Israeli forces from Gaza have been killed in the regime’s detention centers under torture, a new report has revealed.  Citing Israeli military forces, Haaretz reported that 36 of the victims lost their lives inside the regime’s shadowy detention facility Sde Teiman.

Another twelve detainees, it said, faced compelling detention circumstances, including extreme exhaustion, psychological pressure, and physical torture, that led to their death.  They were being held in detention camps established by the Israeli military within Gaza.

According to the Gaza media office, the regime’s forces have kidnapped at least 5,000 Palestinians since early October, when the military launched its bloodiest-ever war in the besieged territory.  The fate of many of them or the conditions of their detention are still unknown, said the media office.

In total, 35 Palestinians had died either at the Sde Teiman prison site or after being transferred to nearby hospitals since early October.

Earlier, The New York Times disclosed sadistic methods used by Israeli forces including raping and torturing defenseless Palestinian detainees brought in from the Gaza Strip.  Last month, a CNN investigation into the detention center in the Negev desert found that some detainees were handcuffed so tightly they had to have body parts surgically removed.

Citing medics, who was working at Sde Teiman, it said that “doctors sometimes amputated prisoners’ limbs due to injuries sustained from constant handcuffing.”  There is a field hospital in the detention center, it said, where patients in blindfolds and diapers were strapped to beds and force-fed through straws.

“The air is filled with the smell of neglected wounds left to rot,” the news website quoted a medic who was working at the facility.

Many have also testified that they were beaten, denied medical care and made to kneel handcuffed and blindfolded for days on end at the regime’s secret detention sites.
