London, June 16 (RHC)-- A humanitarian agency based in London says there is not enough support for amputees in Gaza, pointing out that thousands of Israel's victims are missing arms and legs as a result of the ruthless war of aggression.

George Graham, chief executive at Humanity and Inclusion UK, says the rates of amputations in Gaza have “gone through the roof” as the limited amount of aid in the enclave is leading to “small injuries” becoming “big injuries.”

“Manageable injuries become lifelong disabilities.  Disabilities that could be managed become life-threatening.  We’re doing everything we can to do things like provide crutches, prosthetics, wheelchairs,” Graham, whose charity works with vulnerable people, told Al Jazeera.

He noted that while they have distributed all the stocks they had and have been able to get into the enclave, it is still “a drop in the ocean compared to the level of need.”

Child amputees, Graham explains, need “immediate support” to be constantly fitted for prosthetics as their bodies change and grow – but none of that is happening.  “We have incredibly brave rehabilitation specialists in Gaza, enduring the same hell that everyone else is … but despite that, they’re out there doing what they can for children who’ve lost limbs … with the few resources we have.
