Beirut, June 25 (RHC)-- Amid the Israeli regime’s repeated threats of waging a war against Lebanon, Hezbollah says launching such military action against the country would not help Tel Aviv make up for its defeats.

Deputy Chairman of Hezbollah's Executive Council Sheikh Nabil Qaouq made the remarks on Monday, Lebanon’s Arabic-language online newspaper Elnashra reported.  “Lebanon will not serve as a place for Israel, where it could make up for its defeats. The country will rather remain an arena for the Zionist enemy’s defeat and a place for victory and deterrence against it (the Israeli regime),” he said.

“The resistance’s missiles and drones are capable of reaching their sensitive targets wherever it (the resistance) wants,” the Hezbollah official added.

The Israeli regime began waging sporadic attacks against Lebanon following the onset of Tel Aviv’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, prompting a firefight with Hezbollah.  The exchange of fire has intensified since the Israeli assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Sami Taleb Abdullah.

The movement has retaliated by firing hundreds of rockets into the northern parts of the occupied territories.

Last week, the Israeli army said it had approved plans for an attack on Lebanon, raising concerns that the regime might try to realize its recurrent threats of turning Lebanon into another Gaza.  Qaouq, however, said the frequent nature of the Israeli threats pointed to the regime’s “desperation and weakness, not [its] power.”

“These threats do not [serve to] lend assurance to the regime, but rather drown them (the enemy) in a sea of fear,” he said, adding: “The enemy’s senior officials threaten [war], but [in reality, they] are trembling with fear.”

Lebanon is strong and does not depend on any foreign party for its security, the official noted and attributed the country’s security to “the resistance’s equations and surprises.”

Qaouq pointed to resistance fronts in Iraq and Yemen -- which have vowed to spring to Lebanon’s defense in case of war with the Israeli regime -- noting that the interconnected nature of the resistance fronts “has changed the face of the region.”

“The enemy has ignored all international resolutions, but cannot ignore the resistance and various resistance fronts’ drones, missiles, strength, and [ability to] surprise.”

The Hezbollah official’s remarks echoed those made by the movement’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who asserted in a recent speech that “in case an inclusive war is imposed on Lebanon, the resistance will fight without restraints, without rules, without limits.”  “Whoever thinks of war against us will regret it,” the Hezbollah leader noted.
