Moscow, October 9 (RHC-PL) -- Venezuela's Foreign Relations Minister Rafael Ramirez has denounced the interference of the United States in the internal affairs of his country through "incitement of extremist groups to violence and its financing of extreme rightwing organizations."

"We have endured a great amount of foreign interference, coming in particular from the U.S., through its encouragement of disturbances and destablization, something that the majority of the Venezuelan people reject," said Ramirez in a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Serguei Lavrov in Moscow.

Ramirez cited various examples of the violence that has affected Venezuela's internal affairs, with "clear manifestations of paramilitarism, like the murder by extreme rightwing groups of the young legislator Robert Serra, from the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV)."

He said that these groups were not only supported by reactionary sectors inside Venezuela, but are also financed by the United States. Ramirez emphasized that one of the principles of Venezuela's foreign policy is to not accept or recognize governments that are products of coups, as well as rejecting the interference of foreign states in the internal affairs of any country.

Ramirez expressed Caracas' full rejection of the economic sanctions imposed by the West against Russia and the general policy of reprisals that "are being pushed on other countries."

He expressed gratitude for the level of military cooperation achieved by the two countries, in a state of increasing development which he said had provided Venezuela with modern weapons to keep the peace and defend the country's sovereignty.

Russian foreign minister, Serguei Lavrov, confirmed Russia's solidarity and support for the course followed by President Nicolas Maduro, giving continuity to the transformational process begun by the late Bolivarian leader, Hugo Chavez.

Lavrov highlighted how the Maduro government had continued to insist on national dialogue without foreign interference.
