New York, July 27 (RHC)-- The American Association of Jurists (AAJ) has denounced that the United States and other allied nations have undertaken actions and statements interfering and destabilizing, through hegemonic media and social networks, to demonize the July 28th elections in Venezuela, building the matrix of opinion of a possible electoral fraud.

In a statement, the organization explains that the interference in the internal affairs of the South American country began “with a wide-ranging media campaign in which various personalities from the United States and allied governments called openly for voting against the current Venezuelan government.”

“In recent days, probably because they verified that the campaign described did not produce the expected results, they began to strongly suggest the possibility of electoral fraud.  In several press releases, the population is called to vote for the opposition and falsely claim to have evidence of the alleged alteration of the election result by the government headed by Nicolas Maduro.”

The AAJ statement also warned that the maneuvers are very similar to those that led to the coup against former Bolivian President Evo Morales in 2019, with the proven involvement of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the European Union, which left a number of dead, wounded and political prisoners, while depriving that country of strategic resources.

The American Association of Jurists denounced harmful actions and statements regarding the July 28 elections.

"We urge governments and their representatives not to make statements that encourage bloody confrontation in Venezuelan society, and we insist that peaceful cooperation between peoples must be resumed."

The document also states that the AAJ “has accredited international observers and escorts for the process on Sunday, July 28th in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.  We have verified that, as in previous elections, this is one of the most complete and secure electoral systems, administered only by the Electoral Power.”

In this regard, he indicated that in terms of technology, the Venezuelan electoral system presents 16 types of audit in different components, including its closed transmission system, The European Commission has also been working on this.

“In addition, polling stations are subject to citizen verification, with provisions such as the drawing of 30 members per table, even though they will only exercise function 3 of them, together with the witnesses designated by each political party.  All of this, under meticulous regulations and regulations, with constitutional status”, he said.

The text further recalls that “the principle of non-intervention implies the right of any sovereign state to conduct its affairs without foreign interference”, while referring to documents such as the Charter of the United Nations, resolutions of the UN General Assembly, where they declare that states must refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other nations.

“Historically, the weaker states clung to the principle of non-intervention as the only legal protection against the expansionist ambitions of the more powerful countries.  Thus, the O.E.A.’s Charter, in Article 19, states that “No State or group of States has the right to intervene, directly or indirectly, and for whatever reason, in the internal or external affairs of any other.  The above principle excludes not only armed force, but also any other form of interference or tendency to undermine the personality of the State, political elements.   The Committee also notes that the Commission has made a number of recommendations to the Council, including those relating to the economic and cultural aspects”.

The AAJ explained that in view of this, it adds to the pronouncements of intellectuals, movements and social, cultural, professional, progressive forces that repudiate the U.S. threats of destabilization.
