Hanan Ashrawi:  A veteran Palestinian political leader

Ramallah, August 28 (RHC)-- Hanan Ashrawi, a Palestinian political leader and former key member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), has described as “bizarre” the US’s provision of “unlimited lethal weapons” and cash to Israel’s army while also saying it is “doing everything” to stop the escalation of conflict.

Pointing out the deep contradictions between what the U.S. does militarily on behalf of Israel and what U.S. diplomats say regarding peace in the region, Ashrawi said: “Enough!”

In a post on social media, Ashrawi said the U.S. had sent its warships, submarines and fighter planes to the Middle East in preparation to “fight Israel’s war of ‘self defense’.  

At the same time, the U.S. was also “manipulating a charade of ‘negotiations’ to buy Israel more time to pursue its carnage and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank”.
