United Nations, October 8 (RHC)-- A United Nations organization charged with working for gender equality and the empowerment of women says thousands of women are facing life-threatening health risks in the Gaza Strip, where more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed as a result of Israel’s genocidal war.

The UN body said in a report that more than 85 percent of health facilities in the coastal territory have been damaged, disrupting medical services and making it challenging for women to access essential health care.  The report also underscored the urgent needs for women, such as cancer treatment, maternal health services, and psychological support.

The UN agency appealed for immediate assistance in order to address the special health needs of women and girls in Gaza.  PRCS warns of complete halt on health services at Khan Younis hospital

Meanwhile, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has warned of a complete halt to health services at al-Amal Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis due to the lack of spare parts and fuel for electric generators.

The Gaza government says Israel has committed 3,654 massacres in the Gaza Strip in its year-long genocidal war on the besieged Palestinian territory.

The PRCS in a statement called on all partners and international organizations to exert pressure to oblige Israel to bring in new power generators to the Gaza Strip, and to provide the society with the fuel and spare parts it needs so that it can continue providing its health and humanitarian services.  It stressed that the halt of the work of electric generators will lead to the halt of surgical operations, life-saving devices and health services, and will further deteriorate the health system in the Gaza Strip.

Israel unleashed its genocidal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, after Hamas carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Tel Aviv regime has so far killed at least 41,909 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 97,303 others, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.   Israel has been also deliberately targeting Gaza schools, mosques, and hospitals in the besieged enclave, which were being used as shelters by civilians.
