Gaza City, October 8 (RHC)-- Israeli air attacks on the Bureij refugee camp have killed at least 17 Palestinians, including 5 children and 2 women, and wounded dozens more as the U.S.-backed Israeli genocidal war on the blockaded territory enters its second year.  Israel's airstrike on two separate locations in the refugee camp in central Gaza on Monday night also injured 25 others.

The Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that Israel’s raid on a home in Block 3 of the camp killed nine Palestinians while an attack on tents sheltering displaced people killed another three.  Emergency workers are continuing their search and rescue operations in the area, as many are trapped under the rubble, according to reports.

In a separate incident in southern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike in the Khirbet al-Adas region, located north of Rafah, killed one Palestinian and left multiple others injured.  The attacks came a day after Israeli forces killed at least 77 people across the Gaza Strip as the Israeli warplanes heavily shelled the Jabalia refugee camp and Jabalia town, north of the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, airstrikes in Gaza City and Beit Lahia killed 5 Palestinians and left numerous others wounded.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing relentless assaults as a result of Israel's ongoing military aggression that has killed at least 41,909 people and left 97,303 others injured, mostly women and children, as the war enters its second year.  In a recent report published by the Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, it is revealed that an estimated 10 percent of Gaza's population has been killed, injured, reported missing, or detained as a result of Israeli military assaults.

The report details the systematic acts of genocide committed in Gaza, such as the targeted killing of civilians in homes, shelters, displacement camps, and humanitarian-declared zones.

"Following the 7 October 2023 attack, Israel declared a state of war, with its President, Prime Minister, and other political and military leaders at the forefront. The declared aim was to eliminate Hamas, secure the release of hostages, and restore security. Thus began Operation Iron Swords, a brutal military offensive that intensified the suffering of Gaza’s civilians," the report said.

Having failed to achieve any of its military objectives in Gaza, following the year-long genocidal war, the Israeli regime has recently shifted its focus to Lebanon while continuing the genocide in Gaza.

According to reports, over 2,000 people have been killed in Lebanon in Israeli airstrikes across the country, and thousands of others have been displaced from their homes, mostly in southern Lebanon.  This comes as the Palestinian resistance groups and their allied groups in regional countries - Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq - continue their operations against the Tel Aviv regime and its Western backers.
