Tehran, October 15 (RHC)-- The U.S. government’s claim of working on a ceasefire deal in Gaza and Lebanon is a “complete and total lie,” says a U.S.-based anti-war activist, adding that the Israeli regime has rejected numerous truce deals.

Carrie Muniak, an American anti-war activist and artist, in an interview with the Press TV website, said time and time again Tel Aviv has rejected ceasefire deals that the U.S. presented as Israel’s proposals and every time Washington has blamed the Hamas resistance movement for the negotiations falling through.

“They have recently been saying Hamas won’t come to the table anymore, but why would they when Israel is murdering the top negotiators for both Hamas and Hezbollah,” she stated.

Negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza have been stalled amid continued attacks against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip as well as the assassination of Hamas leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh.

The expansion of war to Lebanon and the assassination of top Hezbollah resistance movement leaders, including Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has completely derailed efforts aimed at cessation of hostilities.

Carrie Muniak, who has been campaigning for a ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon and is currently visiting the occupied West Bank, said the ceasefire is “more imperative than ever” at the moment.

“With Israel’s expansion of hostilities into Lebanon, a ceasefire is more imperative than ever.  The concept of de-escalation through escalation has been proven to be a farce,” she told the Press TV website.

She censured the U.S. government’s role amid the Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon and said if Washington really cared about an end to the ongoing wars, it would “try a different tactic to achieving those goals.”

“If the United States really cared about an end to the hostilities and an end to the suffering of the Palestinians (which they refuse to call a genocide even though it CLEARLY is), then I would think that maybe they’d try a different tactic to achieving those goals,” Muniak stated.

One of the measures, she added, would be imposing an arms embargo or allowing the United Nations to get involved “instead of blocking every single effort for peace.“  “The United States is acting like we’re the only ones who can solve this problem but we are incompetent, seemingly purposefully so,” she remarked.

Pertinently, the Joe Biden administration has been the biggest supplier of arms to the Israeli regime since October 7 last year, which have wreaked havoc in both Gaza and Lebanon.

The death toll in Gaza is nearly 42,300 now, most of them children and women, while in Lebanon around 3,000 civilians have been killed so far, including children.

On the upcoming U.S. election and the likelihood of Donald Trump’s return to the White House, Muniak said if he gets elected, there would not only be escalation between Israel and Iran but with other countries as well.

“Now I am not saying this isn’t a possibility under the current Biden administration and a possible Harris administration, but I worry it’s a guarantee under Trump,” she noted.

“Then to add to that, under Trump the American people will be made to suffer even more than they already are due to his horrific economic plans, labor policies, reproductive rights policies, and more.”

She feared that it would be even more difficult for “average Americans” like her to “stand up and demand peace and justice.”

“I pray a second Trump presidency never happens.”
