Havana, October 16 (RHC)-- "We are entering the stage of alarmism and pendulum swing of the election season," warned the award-winning U.S. documentary filmmaker Michael Moore when urging voters to vote if they want to prevent Donald Trump's return to power.

Moore, who showed his support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, asked to "pay less attention to the polls, to leave that obsession, and to focus on mobilizing," because “to get those votes, we have to activate non-voters.  It is possible that a third (or more!) of our fellow Americans will not go to the polls this year.”

That is why “the only thing you and I must do (is): take three or more non-voters with us to the polls.  Identify people you know who may not vote, in part because they have simply given up on ‘the whole damn system,’” the film director stressed in an article published on his website.

"Tell them why you are asking for this one favor and only for this year."   “They can go back to being non-voters on November 6.  But on November 5 (or before), you sincerely need them to vote for Kamala Harris,” he added.

“We are no longer basking in the glow of (Joe) Biden’s withdrawal and Kamala (Harris)’s adrenaline injection into this race.  That is not surprising.  It was expected,” the political activist also stated in his writing in reference to the scant three weeks that separate the election day.

He said that his mailbox is about to burst, because “everyone is going crazy over the latest polls, the pessimistic experts, the sudden (?) rise of (Donald) Trump, the warnings of pessimism.”

He commented that many are exclaiming: “Mike! Mike!  Please tell us he’s going to lose (Trump)!  She’s going to win (Harris)!” in reference to predictions about what could happen on November 5th.

“Wow!  Please everyone calm down!  We’ve all been in this situation before” and “stop obsessing over the polls,” wrote Moore, who correctly predicted Trump’s victory in 2016.

The director of Fahrenheit 11/9 listed several examples from different electoral cycles in the United States that corroborated his opinion that opinion polls are not always the right way.

“Cheer up.  There’s no crying in politics, especially over stupid polls.  It’s just part of the madness they put us through every four years.  And for now, we just need to put aside the media whirlwind.  Seriously, turn off the television,” he suggested ironically.

Don't read articles about polls in The New York Times.  Ignore all the charlatans who are really just depressing your day.  "Half the time, they don't seem to realize that we live in a world without a landline," concluded Moore, who won an Oscar in 2003 for Bowling For Columbine, a documentary about gun violence in the United States.
