Beirut, October 23 (RHC)-- The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement has launched fresh attacks on Israeli military positions in the northern occupied Palestinian territories in response to the Tel Aviv regime’s airstrikes on Lebanese towns and villages.

Hezbollah issued a string of statements on Wednesday, confirming the strikes, which were in support of steadfast Palestinians in Gaza, courageous resistance fighters there and in defense of Lebanon.

“In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance, at 09:30 AM on Wednesday, 23-10-2024, targeted a gathering of “Israeli” enemy soldiers between the towns of Odaisseh and Rab Thalathin with a rocket barrage,” the resistance group announced.

Shortly afterwards, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for another rocket attack against Israeli troops stationed at the Misgav Am-Rab Thalathin-Markaba triangle.

Additionally, an Israeli military position was bombed with a barrage of rockets on the outskirts of the village of Odaisseh, which is located close to the Blue Line border with the occupied lands.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has started attacks in the historic Lebanese port city of Tyre, witnesses have told Reuters news agency.  Lebanon’s official National News Agency also reported that a drone had targeted Sawt al-Farah Street in Tyre.

Lebanese civilians have fled Tyre after the Israeli army issued warnings for residents to evacuate large parts of the city.  “The situation is very bad, we’re evacuating people,” Mortada Mhanna, who heads Tyre’s disaster management unit, said.

Bilal Kashmar, the unit’s media officer, told AFP news agency that many were fleeing the city and heading towards the suburbs.  “You could say that the entire city of Tyre is being evacuated,” he said, adding that the once vibrant southern hub had already been emptied of most of its residents.

Kashmar noted that only about 14,500 people were still in Tyre on Tuesday, and thousands of them were displaced individuals from other parts of southern Lebanon.

“Some families, who had not left the city of Tyre before, began leaving their homes to stay clear from areas that the Israeli enemy threatened to target,” the official Lebanese news agency said.

Earlier, Israeli warplanes had carried out two air raids on the center of Khiam village near the border with occupied territories.
