Caracas, December 19 (RHC)-- The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced this Thursday that the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Provea has links with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States and specified that it is part of the Venezuelan extreme right that, together with its American allies, want to destroy all the spaces recovered by the Bolivarian Revolution and come to power.

"It is not Provea, it is Procia, because Provea has been working for the CIA since the 1990s," said the president at the event for the Health Day and Reinauguration of the Comprehensive Diagnostic Center (CDI), Las Brisas de Charallave, in Miranda state.

The Venezuelan leader stressed that since 1996, Provea has been working for the CIA.    "Provea worked with the CIA, so they come out and say that they are political prisoners.  They are not political prisoners.  They are people who burned, who attacked, who threatened, who assaulted.  They destroyed and killed," denounced Nicolas Maduro, alluding to those involved in the destabilization events organized by groups of the Venezuelan extreme right after the elections of last July 28.

On this day, the NGO Provea referred to these people as "political prisoners"; however, the Bolivarian Government has offered compelling evidence of their links with the extreme right, represented by the former presidential candidate Edmundo González and María Corina Machado.

The Venezuelan president referred to the events of the 29th and 30th, in which the fascists burned the headquarters of a mayor's office and tried to burn a community radio station and assassinate the mayor Carmen Silva, of the Jiménez municipality, in the state of Lara.

In this regard, the president emphasized that the fight against imperialist fascism is permanent and affirmed that on July 28 in Venezuela "terror and fascism did not triumph, peace and life triumphed."

"I am David, and I carry the strength of God and the people against all the monsters and difficulties that come our way.  The strength of David who faced Goliath and for us Goliath is the difficulties, the problems, the empire, the fascist and criminal oligarchy.  He has been defeated so that there can be peace and recovery," the president stressed.
