Baghdad, November 17 (RHC)-- At least five people have been killed and about 20 others wounded in separate bomb attacks targeting three areas in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The first attack took place on Sunday near a police patrol area in the suburb of Radwaniya. Two policemen were killed and five others wounded in the blast. Another bomb went off in the Hay Jami'a neighborhood, killing three people and injuring nine others.

According to a United Nations report, a three-car convoy of UN vehicles also came under attack on its way from the airport in Baghdad to its headquarters in the capital's Green Zone. No UN personnel were reportedly killed or injured in the incident and all returned safely back to the UN compound, although one of the UN vehicles sustained serious damage.

Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Iraq Nickolay Mladenov said the attack would not "deter the UN from continuing its work" in the country. Iraqi security and medical officials also said that the attack on the UN convoy, which took place in an area that is usually highly secure, left three people wounded.

Takfiri ISIL militants have claimed responsibility for the attack near the airport, saying they were targeting Americans.
