Austin, December 2 (RHC)-- In the U.S. state of Texas, police say that a man who opened fire on government buildings and tried to burn the Mexican consulate was a "American terrorist" with ties to an ultra-conservative Christian hate group that is against bi-racial families and anti-gay.

Austin police say Larry McQuilliams had expressed frustration over immigrants receiving aid while he could not find a job. Police affirmed that McQuilliams had multiple weapons, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, bottled water and a map of 34 downtown buildings police believe were potential targets in his attack the day after Thanksgiving.

Investigators revealed that the 49-year-old McQuilliams had a copy of "Vigilantes of Christendom" in his van. The 1990 book is associated with the Christian Identity movement known as the Phineas Priesthood, which espouses anti-Semitic and racist views.
