Santiago de Chile, February 4 (RHC-PL) -- The President of Chile Michelle Bachelet will be granted an audience at the Vatican by Pope Francis next June 5th, said an official source that described it as "a great event."
Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz said at a press conference that this will be the first official meeting between Bachelet and Pope Francis, who has scheduled a visit to Chile in 2016.
"It is good news that we consider of great importance. Pope Francis has become an international leader and, as personalities of the Catholic Church say, he has broken the mold," said Muñoz.
Muñoz said that during her trip to Europe, Bachelet will make an official visit to Italy and attend the Fair on Food Security in Milan, in which Chile will have a large presence.
