Washington, March 19 (RHC)-- Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have unveiled a new budget plan that would cut spending by $5.5 trillion over 10 years. The measure increases military spending by adding $40 billion in "emergency" war funds and slashes at least $1 trillion in funding for social services like food stamps and welfare. The plan also demands Obamacare’s full repeal.

In other news from Capitol Hill, U.S. congressional Democrats are opposing new secrecy surrounding the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP. The United States is in talks with 11 Latin American and Asian countries for a sweeping trade pact covering 40 percent of the global economy. Its provisions have mostly been kept secret.
