Washington, April 2 (RHC)-- Hillary Clinton’s e-mail controversy is hurting her approval ratings and she is not seen as honest or trustworthy by about half of voters in three U.S. states that are critical in presidential elections, according to a new poll.

Voters in no state consider the former U.S. secretary of state and senator as “honest” and “trustworthy,” but she still runs best overall of any candidate, a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released on Tuesday shows.

Clinton’s margins are down in match ups with possible 2016 Republican presidential candidates in three of the swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to the survey. Clinton now trails former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in his home state by three percentage points. Last month’s Quinnipiac Poll found Clinton tied with Bush in Florida, but he now leads her 45 percent to 42 percent.

U.S. Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky is currently ahead of her by one percentage point in Pennsylvania, although she led him by 19 points there last month, the survey showed.

Clinton is the presumptive favorite for the 2016 U.S. presidential nomination from the Democratic Party but the deepening controversy threatens to damage her likely campaign, which is expected to be launched this spring.
