Panama City, Apr 11, (RHC) -- ,Argentina’s president Cristina Fernandez defended both Cuba and Venezuela, adding however that she valued Obama’s willingness to begin new relations with Cuba, the multinational news channel TeleSur reported.

On the issue of the U.S. declaring Venezuela a “security threat”, Fernandez echoed the regional sentiment and said, “I confess to you all that when I heard the news I thought that there had to be a mistake … and then the first thing I did was laugh .. its ridiculous .. that not just Venezuela but any country on our continent could be some kind of threat to the huge power that is the U.S.”

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, Bolivia's Evo Morales, Brazil's Dilma Rousseff and other dignitaries from Latin America and the Caribbean also expressed their rejection of the US attitude towards Venezuela and urged the Obama administration to rectify its approach.
