Miami, June 16 (RHC)-- Former Florida governor Jeb Bush has officially entered the race to become the Republican nominee for U.S. president. Speaking at Miami Dade College on Monday, Jeb Bush said: "We will take Washington -- the static capital of this dynamic country -- out of the business of causing problems."

The 62-year-old brother of ex-president George W. Bush is kicking off his presidential campaign with an optimistic message about America's future. Bush said: "In any language, my message will be an optimistic one because I am certain that we can make the decades just ahead in America the greatest time ever to be alive in this world."

As Jeb Bush asked the crowd to welcome his mother, Barbara Bush, he was interrupted by 27 immigrant rights activists who stood up, removed their shirts and revealed neon green T-shirts spelling, "Legal Status Is Not Enough." The protesters’ chants demanding equality for undocumented people were drowned out by chants of "Jeb" and "U.S.A.."

Despite his family name, Bush is trying to position himself as an outsider. And Jeb Bush believes he could break away from the rest of the Republican field, which already boasts 10 candidates.

The son of George H. W. Bush, another former president, is widely expected to attract the strongest group of aides and donors in the Republican field thanks to his own ties in Florida and the network established by his family.
