La Paz, July 27 (RHC) -– The Bolivian government and the Civic Potosinista Committee resumed negotiations on Monday, after the talks had been broken off by the Committee.

Yony Llaly, leader of the committee's negotiators, said talks would continue, under the condition that the trial of three miners and a journalist begins as soon as possible. They had been arrested for their involvement in recent violent actions.

In spite of this pause, the parties have made some advances in the negotiations, agreeing on a deal in the health sector and on the construction of a hydroelectric complex in the Yura and Pilcomayo Rivers.

This new round of talks will address the issue of education, one of 26 demands of the protests since early July in the city of Potosí.
